In late March 2010, BEFORE’s CEO Heinz Krummenacher and BEFORE’s partner Ms. Elizabeth Coté, Director of IFES-Guinée, presented two papers on Guinea’s Parliament and Supreme Court to Prime Minister Jean-Marie Doré, several members of the Guinea Council on National Transition (CNT) and several magistrates.

In June Guinea will hold its first presidential elections since the death of President Lansana Conté in late 2008. While the presidential elections will help the country transition back to constitutional rule, the newly elected president of Guinea will need reliable government structures, such as the Supreme Court and the Parliament, to govern the country well.

Many Guineans are hopeful the elections will be the start of a new era of stability and growth for the country. Take action today to help prevent elections violence in Guinea this summer. Your help can make a difference.
